When Ashley Thompson arrived at Kenyon from San Rafael, California, a drawing class inspired her to declare studio art as a major. Since then, she has thrown herself into her artistic endeavors, happily spending up to 10 hours a day in the light-filled studios of Horvitz Hall, which Ashley calls, "one of the greatest art buildings I could hope for." Originally introduced to Kenyon through the Young Writers program, Ashley draws connections between her writing and her painting. "The way I approach a painting is how I would approach a paper," she says. "I just have to convey an idea with images instead of words."
